Seriously. Why?

I opened my mail just now. A highschool friend of mine sent me an email. Which contained a few pictures of a rape and murder victim. To read about these cases in the newspaper is totally different from actually seeing the pictures of the real corpse.

It was horrifying. Just absolutely appalling that these sick, depraved psychos will do this to innocent women, just to get high on adrenaline. What kind of monsters are they, that they don't even feel a thing about taking someone's life, to see the person suffer so much pain, to actually be holding the weapon and feel it slice into tender flesh, to see all the blood spurting out, to hear her screams, without feeling anything at all?

Her throat was brutally slashed. It was just a mess of darkened blood and mangled flesh, with the blood marks splattered all over her chest. Her face was expressionless, no contortion of pain, nothing. The skin was already turning grey. Her arms, they were sliced open to the bone in places. To see the gaping wound, to see bits of flesh falling out of the cuts, it's horrible.

Why do such monsters want to cause so much hurt to people they don't even know? These men who don't even deserve to be called men, tell us women, why?

To atheists or people who prefer to believe in the abilities of humans. I don't understand how you can prefer to believe in humans who cause this kind of pain. I don't understand how you can prefer to trust in humans who are just so easy to influence, so easy to deviate. Just because someone was nice in the beginning, there is no guarantee that person won't turn bad in the rest of his/her life. Your best friend can turn into your worst enemy. Just a wrong word, a wrong influence, and the person becomes a monster. How can you prefer to believe in humans, who are bound to sin at least once in their lifes.

I know that to some people, believing in God is useless because to them, God just watches all these kinds of depravity and violence and evil without helping, without offering divine intervention. But how can you expect Him to do anything when you won't even allow Him into your lifes? How can you expect Him to just change the situation with a wave of His hand and perhaps a sprinkling of magic dust, to make everything go away?

Religion is essential. By religion, I mean the true ones that have good values. Not philosophical "religions". Good religions teach good values, and sticking to these values can surely make the world a much better place, regardless of which religion you choose to adopt, instead of believing in the human thinking which is just so weak compared to God.

Okay, I'm just sounding preachy here, but the main thing I want to express here is my shock, horror and disgust at the utter depravity of some humans. I can't even go a day without worrying about my loved ones, being paranoid that something may happen to them not because of an accident, but because of human evil nature. How can I not worry?
